Six major cement brands dominate the Pakistani construction market. Recommendations are based on residential RCC use, consistency across batches and availability in Lahore.
The most consistent quality across batches in Pakistan. Strong RCC compression, low free-lime content. Slightly higher rate but worth it for structural elements.
Equal-tier alternative to DG Khan. Stable supply network across Lahore and central Punjab. Preferred by many engineers for grey structure work.
Owned by Bestway Group. Strong national presence. Quality on par with Maple Leaf for residential use. Reliable for bulk orders.
Army-backed brand. Quality is consistent, slightly variable across plants. Good for boundary walls and PCC; acceptable for residential RCC with caution.
Wide variant range including OPC and PPC. Suitable for grey structure. Some batches show colour variation, not critical for RCC.
Lower rate, acceptable for non-structural work, boundary walls, plaster, flooring screed. Not recommended for primary RCC of multi-storey homes.
Four major Grade-60 deformed bar producers serve the Pakistani residential construction market. All meet Pakistan Standards Institution code for structural steel.
The most widely specified Grade-60 brand in Lahore. Consistent yield strength, clean rolling, accurate diameter. Premium rate justified for primary structural use.
Karachi-based but with strong Lahore distribution. Excellent quality control. Slightly lower rate than Mughal with comparable specifications.
Long-established Lahore brand. Reliable consistency across batches. The default choice for many local builders.
Karachi-based. Acceptable for residential RCC, somewhat variable quality across batches. Use with batch inspection.
Pillarstone Developers supplies DG Khan or Maple Leaf cement and Mughal or Amreli Grade-60 steel as standard in our PKR 2,500/sft Grey Structure with Material package. No supplier coordination, no batch-quality worries.
๐ฌ Get Quote with Brand SpecificationsBrand selection for primary structural materials has long-term consequences. Quality variation between brands is real but not extreme, all major brands meet Pakistan Standards Institution (PSI) code. The differences show up in batch consistency, distribution reliability and the small percentage of substandard product that escapes quality control.
For the structural shell (RCC foundation, columns, beams, slabs), pick from the top tier: DG Khan, Maple Leaf or Bestway. These three brands have the most consistent compressive strength across batches and the lowest incidence of substandard bags reaching the market. The rate premium over budget brands is roughly Rs. 50-100 per bag, negligible against the cost of repairing a weak slab.
For non-structural work, boundary walls, plaster, screed, PCC, mid-range brands like Fauji Cement, Lucky Cement work fine. The structural demands are lower and small batch variations don't cause failures. Saving Rs. 50-100/bag on these elements is worthwhile.
Avoid using budget brands like Kohat for primary RCC of multi-storey residential. The cost saving is small (Rs. 100-150/bag), but compressive strength variation introduces risk that compounds over multiple structural elements. Reserve budget cement for compound walls, garden walls and non-load-bearing screed.
All four major brands, Mughal Steel, Amreli Steels, Ittefaq Steel and Naveena Steel, produce Grade-60 deformed bars meeting PSI standards. The differences are in dimensional accuracy (correct diameter vs slightly under), rolling quality (clean ribs vs flaking), and batch-to-batch consistency.
For Lahore residential builds, Mughal Steel is the default choice, strong quality control, widely available, well-established reputation. Ittefaq Steel is the second most common in Lahore with comparable quality and slightly lower rate. Amreli Steels is a strong alternative when Mughal supply is delayed; quality is equivalent.
Naveena Steel is acceptable for residential RCC with batch inspection, check the brand stamp on each bar, confirm diameter with a caliper, and reject any bars showing rust pitting or rolling defects. This level of inspection is worth doing for any brand but especially when accepting budget-tier steel.
Mid-project brand substitution happens, your contractor's supplier runs out, or rates change. Substitution between top-tier brands (DG Khan โ Maple Leaf โ Bestway) is safe and standard. Substitution from top-tier down to budget is not safe for structural elements and should be refused for slab and column work even if it saves cost.
Our standard specification across all 71 Lahore society pages: DG Khan, Maple Leaf or Bestway cement; Mughal, Amreli or Ittefaq Grade-60 steel; first-class machine bricks. These choices are written into every BOQ and every contract. Substitutions require client written approval. This is one reason our PKR 2,500/sft "Grey Structure with Material" rate is competitive, we have bulk-buy contracts with all three top cement brands and two top steel brands, passing the rate advantage on without compromising on brand tier.
Cement and steel rates in Pakistan are volatile, tracking energy costs, import duties on coal and scrap, and PKR-USD exchange rate. Rates shown here are March-June 2026 averages for Lahore retail. Bulk buyers (5,000+ bags or 100+ tons) typically save 5-8% off retail. Confirm current rates with three suppliers before placing orders. Pillarstone Developers shares live rates from our suppliers as part of every BOQ.
For structural RCC (foundation, columns, slabs): DG Khan, Maple Leaf or Bestway, the top tier with most consistent batch quality. For non-structural (boundary walls, plaster): Fauji or Lucky work fine. Avoid budget brands like Kohat for primary RCC of multi-storey homes.
Mughal Steel is the default Lahore choice, best quality control, widely available. Ittefaq Steel is second most common with comparable specs at slightly lower rate. Amreli Steels is a strong alternative. All three are Grade-60 deformed bars meeting Pakistan Standards Institution code.
Grade-60 has yield strength of 60,000 psi (420 N/mmยฒ) vs 40,000 psi for Grade-40. All residential RCC should use Grade-60. Grade-40 is only acceptable for stirrups, mesh and non-structural elements.
Avoid mixing different brands in the same RCC pour. Even small batch variations between brands can cause minor variations in setting time and strength. If unavoidable due to supply issues, use only within the same tier (e.g., DG Khan + Maple Leaf is acceptable; DG Khan + Kohat is not for structural elements).
Cement (DG Khan, Maple Leaf, Bestway): Rs. 1,380-1,470/bag. Mid-tier (Fauji, Lucky): Rs. 1,350-1,410/bag. Steel Grade-60 (Mughal, Amreli, Ittefaq): Rs. 285-310/kg. Rates change weekly with energy and exchange rate movements.
Yes. Our standard specification uses top-tier brands (DG Khan/Maple Leaf/Bestway cement, Mughal/Amreli/Ittefaq steel). If you want a specific brand, request it before contract signing and we'll adjust BOQ. Brand upgrades to luxury choices like Cherat Cement or imported steel are quoted separately.
